Call it a comeback! Arguably one of the most talented musicians I’ve ever had the pleasure of being around, Colin Munroe — the Unsung Hero, is back with this Prince cover.

Colin has been quiet on the scene for some time now dealing with behind the scenes stuff but true talent never goes unheard for too long. Check him out and leave a comment if you would like the download.

And if for some reason you never got his critically acclaimed Unsung Hero project (my claim to fame), treat yourself by clicking the link below.

Chi-Town Rob

July 29th, 2010 by Da Fam Ink

Da Fam is all about talent. That’s the #1 thing we’re about here. And when it comes to talent, there’s no denying R. Kelly. The video is really about a new artist by the name of Leon Timbo, who seems to be a great talent in his own right, but Kells ends up stealing the show with this ridiculous vocal freestyle.

New Art: Phella – Deaf Poetry Jam (Wake’s Hearing Aid Rebuild)

July 18th, 2010 by Da Fam Ink

Deaf Poetry Jam Part 1 was originally the acapella intro track for Phella’s 2009 EP entitled Gimme A Second I Swear. It was well received by listeners. Detroit based producer, Wake, recently took the vocals and built this track around them. It has the same motivational and inspirational vibe as the original, just stepped up a few notches with Wake’s excellent production.
The visual is a compilation of exclusive video and photos of Phella to accompany the words of the track.

4 Walls

June 19th, 2010 by Phella

This might be one of the realest hip-hop verses ever recorded, to me at least.

Look, I don’t give a fuck again

Thoughts in my head, lookin like a nigga’s stuck with them,

Wishin it abruptly ends, but God woke him up again,

Everything is seeming is so unfair, So unclear,

Trynna reach out, no ones there,

4 Walls tellin him go run where? No one cares,

Screamin this too shall pass, ridin on fuel without gas,

Bills pilin up with out cash, tryin to maintain and out last,

Pray for me, keep tellin niggas patiently, wait for me,

Keep tellin my haters wait and see,

I’m busy tryin’ to fill the vacancy,

Though a long time it’s taken me,

Mothafuckas keep mistaken me,

Mistakenly, they caging me,

Niggas never had no faith in me,

It’s like I’m one semi from death,

I’m just a few pennys from debt,

I got no identity left, victim of Identity Theft.

My problems are never new, it’s revenue,

Keep blamin them it’s never you,

Keep tellin baby girl Im gonna leave and never do,

Cause even when a nigga needs space,

when you’re lookin’ for a little lee-way,

Somebody put it on replay,

it’s like it gets louder with each day,

Pray.

I Cry – Tupac

June 16th, 2010 by Da Fam Ink

Sometimes when I’m alone
I Cry,
Cause I am on my own.
The tears I cry are bitter and warm.
They flow with life but take no form
I Cry because my heart is torn.
I find it difficult to carry on.
If I had an ear to confide in,
I would cry among my treasured friend,
but who do you know that stops that long,
to help another carry on.
The world moves fast and it would rather pass by.
Than to stop and see what makes one cry,
so painful and sad.
And sometimes…
I Cry
and no one cares about why.
